Identify the skills required to play  Folk,Blues ,Jazz ,Funk, Hard Rock and Metal as well as the ground breaking rock and roll from the 1950s and 60s.

Learn to play songs both acoustically and in an electric capacity . Develop songwriting and solo skills including improvisation across all styles .

More advanced studies can include altered tunings , advanced time signatures and finger picking styles including hybrid picking .

Learn how effects settings can enhance playing across the board and using palm muting ,string dampening and harmonics can bring about surprising results with your instrument

Above all learn to walk with the Guitar before trying to run with it ...Technique comes first and then speed ! Ask any progressive guitarist and a metronome is a vital piece of equipment when learning .

Specialist grades with Rockschool , Trinity and RGT are available if desired and provide a useful way of assessing progress with musical studies however students are encouraged to look outside the grades as well for a more varied and enjoyable musical journey.

The grades can also be used towards GCSE music , UCCA accreditation and included as a skill towards the Duke of Edinburghs award at high school

The music grades are updated periodically to absorb current musical thinking and explore those styles that continue to be the industry standards
